Special Procedure of The United Nations Human Rights Council (05th May 2009)

g

05th May 2009,

TO: Special Procedure of The United Nations Human Rights Council

Dear Sir,
I am a citizen of P.R.China. My name is Richard Wu Mei De. I was put in to the Jail of Maldives without any legal procedure in November 1993, after spending more than fifteen (15) years in jail I was told that I was released from jail without any legal procedure, while I was taking a routine medical treatment in IGM Hospital, Male' in February 2009.
I never accepted this arbitrary releasing to reach the governments' attempt to closing the long pending international court case of my arbitrary detention in The Maldives. On 15th February 2009 I declared my six conditions in writing to the legal official of The Home Ministry to demand the government to follow proper international legal procedure before releasing me, but the government disregarded my rights and carried out the arbitrary releasing by force as they have done to me the same way 15 years back for the arbitrary detention.
I wrote three letters each to The Human Rights Commission of the Maldives, The Home Ministry and The Foreign Ministry on March 16th, April 6Th and 19th, regarding my issue of arbitrary detention and arbitrary releasing in The Maldives, but I did not get any reply from any of the three parties. It is clear that both the previous and the present government of The Maldives is the same in disrespecting the law, rights and justice in The Maldives.
How can the government of the Maldives say that they are committed on Human Rights and that makes them entitled to run for a seat in the UN Human Rights Council, while the issue of long systematic rights abuse for my arbitrary detention and arbitrary releasing still remain unsolved and while they denied to reply my letters regarding this issue.
I request The Special Procedure Mandate - Holders of Human Rights Council to conduct a thorough investigation on my issue of arbitrary detention and arbitrary releasing in Maldives and to resort the system of urgent appeals to rescue my endangered legal position and life safety. To get justice done under due process of law.

Thank you,

Yours Sincerely,
Richard Wu Mei Dei
